Hospital San Roque en Maspalomas

The San Roque University Hospitals in Maspalomas are located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, one of the main tourist areas in the Canary Islands. It was established in 2006 after HSR was awarded the public tender issued by San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council for its construction and operation under an administrative concession. The hospital was established with the aim of meeting the needs of the population in the southern part of Gran Canaria, who until then had to travel to the capital to receive specialist healthcare, as well as addressing the growing demand from holiday and health tourism. It has thus become a leading healthcare centre in the south of Gran Canaria and is on a par with the most highly specialised and technologically advanced hospitals in Europe. Furthermore, the award of the public tender by the Canary Islands Government’s Department of Health for the provision of specialised healthcare to patients in the southern health districts of the island has made it the leading public hospital, serving both the Spanish population and the large community of foreign residents and visitors. It is accredited by the Canary Islands Government’s Department of Health as a General Hospital and approved for short-stay care and for surgical procedures requiring hospitalisation.
